(Please Select All of Interest to You) Volunteer Opportunities Office Work and Data Entry: Requires strong phone, customer service, and computer skills. Friendly voice and personality are a must. Knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite is preferred. Track data, then enter information into Excel spreadsheets or another similar database. Fundraising and Special Events: As an all-volunteer, non-profit rescue group, fundraising is vital for our existence. We need volunteers to brainstorm ideas, help plan, and take part in fundraisers. Fundraising may include any number of events from yard sales, adoption events, and promoting donations online to speaking engagements and community outreach. We need talented, creative, energetic people to coordinate and participate in these events. Marketing and Print Materials: Marketing helps us spread the word about FAN and our services. It also generates donation money and in-kind supplies. FAN needs skilled volunteers to photograph, create, write, and design marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and forms, and to design and/or maintain websites. Can you recruit other volunteers, including veterinarians and vet techs? We need creative, energetic people who can help us communicate our mission and services to the public. Trapping: Help with small and large trapping projects. Trapping involves setting up traps, watching cats enter, and covering the traps when triggered. Cats are then transported in the trap to the holding facility to await spaying/neutering. FAN provides training and will loan traps when needed. Transporting: Includes moving cats to and from clinics for their appointments, to the holding facility for recovery after surgery, then back to their colony after recovery. May also involve transportation of supplies to other volunteers or transporting adoptable cats and kittens to adoption events. Fostering: Rescued kittens must stay in home-based foster care until they're old enough to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and adopted. Kittens may be tame, semi-feral, require bottle-feeding, or eat on their own. Cats may come as a pregnant queen (she'll require a quiet birthing space) or as a mother with nursing kittens. We can provide training on how to socialize feral kittens and initial supplies. Fosters must be willing to provide food and litter for kittens in their care. FAN supplements supplies as available. Feral Recovery: Once the trapped cat is spayed/neutered and vaccinated, he/she needs recovery time before getting released back to his/her colony. Holding time for a male is overnight; females require a one-week hold to ensure there is no bleeding, tearing of stitches, or infection. Recovery space needs to be safe and easy-to-clean, temperature-controlled, and large enough for a trap or holding crate. Garages and utility rooms are ideal locations for recovery. You may volunteer to hold only males, only females, or both. Training is provided. Are you a Veterinarian or Vet Tech? DVM / VMD Vet Tech Is there another way you feel you could help that we didn't mention?
